On Saturday, October 7, 2017 we celebrated the memory of George Ley with a plaque dedication of the bridge he designed.
On Friday, August 11, 2017 George Ley Age 92, of Wexford, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully . George was the oldest son of George and C. Stella (Englert), Pittsburgh, PA; and brother to David.
He graduated from Central Catholic HS in 1943 and M.I.T. in 1946. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy V12 program during WW II. George enjoyed a distinguished career as a Mechanical Engineer and was a founding partner of Olsen-Ley Company.
He was an active member of many organizations including the Knights of Columbus Council #3907 (Wexford), for which he was a Grand Knight and the last Charter Member, theSerra Club, Saint Alexis Parish, and Barber Shop groups.
George is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Gloria Harold Ley; his children, George (Drew) A Ley III, Deborah Ley Boeh, Edward H. Ley and wife, Joyce, Susan E. Ley, and David A. Ley; nieces, Christine Ley and Barbara Ley. He adored his seven grandchildren, Daniel, Derek, Diana, Ed, Katherine, Laura, Lisa; and six great- grandchildren.
